
Concrete Society Awards 2007 - Certificate of Excellence in Mature
Structures
London Bridge
At the Concrete society annual awards Mott MacDonald won a
Certificate of Excellence in the Mature Structures category for
London Bridge. This award celebrates structures of a 'certain age'
which, by virtue of their high standards of design and
construction, have matured well and given good service. London
Bridge was designed by Mott Hay and Anderson in the late 1960s to
replace the original 1831 crossing.

ICE Awards 2007 - Historic Bridge & Infrastructure Awards
Newcastle High Level Bridge
Bridge 391 at Rockingham Street
Mott MacDonald, Network Rail and May Gurney’s cast iron
fatigue testing of the High Level Bridge in Newcastle-upon-Tyne has
been recognised by the Institution of Civil Engineers’ Historic
Bridge and Infrastructure Awards 2007. The Awards exist to promote
and celebrate excellence and innovation in the conservation of
transport-related structures which are over 30 years old, including
bridges, canal aqueducts and locks, tunnels and train sheds. Our
work at Bridge 391 at Rockingham Street received a
commendation.
ICE CEEQUAL 2007 - Whole Project Award
Clark's Bridge
Mott MacDonald was given this prestigious award by the
Institution of Civil Engineers for the refurbishment of Clark's
bridge, a 200 year old grade II listed masonry bridge. The Civil
Engineering Environmental Quality Assessment and Awards Scheme
publicly recognises the attainment of environmental excellence in
civil engineering.
ICE Awards 2007 - Thomas Brassey Award for Small
Projects
Itford Farm Bridleway Bridge
This innovative and elegant solution to an equestrian bridge in an
area of outstanding beauty won an ICE Award for Small Projects and
was featured in a paper in the ICE journal.
ICE Award 2006 - Reed & Mallik Medal
A34/M4 Junction 13 Improvement Design - UK
David Place, Imran Farooq and Sue Carter won the Institution of
Civil Engineers' prestigious Reed & Mallik Medal for their
paper: 'Design of the A34 Chieveley/M4 Junction 13
Improvement'.

Publow Bridge Strengthening - UK
The Mott MacDonald team received a commendation for their
innovative work on the Publow Bridge strengthening at the 2006
Institution of Civil Engineers' English Historic Bridge &
Infrastructure Awards.
BCI Awards 2005 - International Award Winner
Taiwan High Speed Rail - Taiwan
As leader of an international consultant joint venture, Mott
MacDonald's role involved independent checking and site engineer
services for the Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation, covering the
entire rail link.
Quality in Construction Awards 2005 - Major Project of the
Year
A34 Chieveley/M4 Junction 13 Improvement - UK
The A34 Chieveley Project was Major Project of the Year
runner up in the 2005 Construction News Quality in Construction
Awards being highly commended, the judges saying "this project
exemplifies all that we have."
BCI Awards 2005 - Small Civil Engineering Project Award
Winner
Bridges 2/11~2/12 Reconstruction Battersea - UK
The innovative and successful reconstruction of two key bridges
next to Clapham Junction during a limited possession on a highly
congested site won the BCI Award for small projects.
ICE Thames Valley Award 2004 - Merit Award Winner
Lakeside Road pedestrian tunnel
The Lakeside pedestrian tunnel at Ash Vale near Aldershot
demonstrates an innovative approach to subway construction -
through a railway embankment adjacent to an existing road and rail
bridge - with minimal disruption to railway operations and
infrastructure

Figg Jr Medal
Rama VIII Bridge - Thailand
The Rama VIII Bridge was awarded the prestigious Eugene C.
Figg Jr Medal for Signature Bridges.
